Sharing Our Faith
Sharing Our Faith
By: Pam Sapienza
I have just celebrated my fifth anniversary as Coordinator of Children’s Formation here at Holy Family, and continue to be thankful for both the opportunities and blessings associated with this position. I have worked with many parents who have expressed gratitude for the positive effect our community has had on their families, and I can attest to the changes I have seen in my own family from this interaction. Over the past five years I’ve watched my children struggle, grow, and deepen their faith as a part our whole community catechesis. While each child’s beliefs are a personal journey of discovery, they are always guided by the faith and teaching of those around them. Being a part of that journey is truly an honor, to which I feel strong personal connections. Watching the children move into the upper level of WCC after 5th grade is certainly bitter-sweet, but this ‘loss’ is eased by the wonder that comes with the new wave of Preschoolers and Kindergarteners. It is a truly a beautiful site to see young children expand their religious faith and knowledge, and later share that with others. I have found that the WCC program not only lends itself to strengthening the children’s faith, but in turn the faith of the family. It opens up a door to relaxed Sunday afternoons where families can share their learning experiences and newfound thoughts from the morning’s lessons – I prefer mine over brunch. But if dinner is your preference, the Feeding Our Faith Program provides another opportunity to share a meal and thoughts with your family and others in our parish each month. Not only do our families get the chance to share a dish, but also their faith experiences and perhaps learn something new.
Both WCC and Feeding Our Faith programs begin Sunday, September 13. I am very proud and honored to be a part of the wonderful programs for Holy Family Catholic Church, and look forward to sharing with you there.
